So last Tuesday, I saw the new JSS1 students that had just resumed, and omo, I realized how fast time flies. Just like yesterday, I got into my dream secondary school.
On the first day of school, I was in my red and white checkered dress with my black shiny sandals and my beautiful pink bag feels so enthusiastic about the new adventure I was about to start.
The fact that I intentionally posed like this for the picture😂😂. I remember waiting for JSS1 (Year 7 I guess) resumption day(The new students usually resume 1 month after the whole school has resumed).
Before resumption day, every morning at 10 a.m., my friends and I gather at our meeting spot and spend the entire day there until 5 p.m., when our parents would have arrived from work. My mom left me with her Blackberry Q10. The phone had a touch screen and a button.
I downloaded Talking Angela on it, the version that you could chat with. My friends and I will keep chatting with her and saying stupid things to her and laughing at how dumb she is. We made prank calls to random numbers.
There was a time we called 112(Nigeria emergency number) and faked a fire scene. To be very honest, we deserved an Oscar award. For real! The attendant bought it, and when she asked for the address, we faked a random address (I really do hope they never actually went there). It was great fun!
We took silly pictures and made silly videos, sat down all day ranting, playing in the rain, and having fun moments. We were 6 and 4 of us were posted to the same class, JSS1F, well 5, but the fifth person went to C class because of a new friend she made.
She said she didn’t want to stay in F class(God abeg, I was very angry. I didn’t speak to her for days. It was a big trial for us because, at that time, we all fought with each other. I feared we were going to drift away from each other, but Alhamdulilah) and well, the sixth person was also posted to C class because F class was full already.
The day I collected my uniform was the most exciting day. See me naw, Omo lo set to yii
I really miss those old days when we were still basking in ignorance.
Fast forward to today, We're all in senior secondary school, all in separate classes. Four in science classes (G class–3 and P class–1), one in tech class (Obviously me, L class), and one in commercial class(S class).
Unfortunately, we don't talk so much anymore, but we still keep in touch. Oh, how time flies.
Once upon a time, we were excited to start secondary school, then we kept progressing, subject by subject, class by class, throughout junior school till senior secondary school. We're currently in SSS2(Year 11 I guess) and it still feels like a dream. Wait, what if this is all a dream and I'm just a crayfish in mummy Shade's egusi pot?🤔
I’m very glad I cherished those moments. I’m glad I made the most of them because now we don’t have a meeting spot again, we can’t sit with each other from 10 am to 5 pm.
We made new friends and new companions, but we never drifted away, and that's something I’m thankful for. We fought and we ignored each other for silly reasons, but we are still together.
Now I look at the current JSS1 and smile, feeling fulfilled and happy. I have 4 sets after my set(I mean, when I’m walking on the pathway, all of them go clear road, even if they are 5). The fun part of being a senior.
The main reason for all these rants is that you should learn to make the most of everything. If you’re at a party, make the most of it. If you're hanging out with someone, make the most of it. Let everything holding you back go and just lose yourself in the moment.
You never know what can happen in the future. You don't know if that's the last time you’ll see the person, and you don't know what comes next, so why not just make the most of it?
Make the most of every moment, my love, so you won’t regret it in the future(Olorun a wa pelu e o - God will be with you).
I'll see you when I see you, Amigos. Bye for now. Stay safe!!
I like the fact that you quoted the prayers in Yoruba, love you babe keep moving by his grace Amen
Ur beginning might be small but obviously, your future is already speaking and would not cease to speak globally in Jesus name. Keep on shining dear
